African schools are in desperate need of educational resources, and although music is one of the most beloved subjects for children, no standardized elementary arts curriculum has yet been developed. Government and foreign agencies mainly focus on core subjects (which are also important), but our book Grazing Back Home inspires the next generation of artists and authors.
In our search for better ways to support students during our recording sessions with them in Namibia, we sought the counsel of various principals. Their schools were in areas where the need was greatest, and were frequently targeted for break-ins. However, many of these educators told us that books are rarely stolen.
The donation of books is an impactful and sustainable way to help schools in need.
Our goal is to motivate students to achieve their full potential in life and in arts, and all children need positive, relatable role models who look like them. You can support this goal by purchasing books for African schools at for $20 per book. Half the proceeds go toward Garth Prince annual travels to Africa to offer workshops to teachers and students empowering them to use the resources.
The books do not go to individual students but rather to the schools (or orphanages), so they can be made available to all students.
Thank you for supporting Africa's future superstars!
